When a contractor asks ChatGPT
where to buy, are you in the answer?
Your buyers no longer start at a search box alone. They ask an assistant which product they need, who stocks it, and who services it. The assistant answers by naming whoever has published a usable answer — and for most distributors, that is somebody else.
We measure whether you appear, show you who appeared instead, and publish the answers that put you in the result. For distributors, wholesalers and supply houses selling to contractors and facilities teams.
Request a visibility reviewMeasured examples: the suppliers ChatGPT names, by category — twelve buyer questions per category, five runs each.
We measure it before we claim it
We take the questions your buyers actually ask before an order — which size, which grade, hot or cold, what fits, who stocks it, who services it — and record what the assistant answers.
- ChatGPT, measured directlyWe run your buyers’ questions through ChatGPT with web search on, and record for each one whether you were cited, mentioned, or absent — and which sources it used instead.
- Google, baselined in the sprintThe content that earns an assistant’s citation is largely the content that ranks, so the sprint records where you sit in Google on the same questions and re-measures at the end. The up-front review measures ChatGPT.
- Bing and Copilot indexing, verifiedBing’s index feeds Copilot, so we submit and confirm indexing there rather than assuming it. We report what we measured and what we did not — we do not claim coverage of engines we cannot test.
A visibility review is a measurement, not a forecast. We will not promise a citation or a ranking, because nobody can.
Why distributors lose these answers
It is rarely neglect. It is usually that decades of hard-won product knowledge sits in a format an assistant cannot use.
The specs are in a PDF
Sizing charts, ratings tables and selection guides live in downloadable catalogues. They may be indexed, but they are dead ends — no links to the products they describe, no structured data, and unreadable on a phone at a job site.
The catalogue has no counter
Thousands of SKUs across dozens of categories, and nothing that answers “which one do I need.” Your staff answer that question all day at the counter and on the phone. None of it is written down.
The guides are on a different site
Useful articles on one domain, the catalogue on another, or on a platform that keeps them apart. The reader gets the answer and then has to start a second search to buy.
The migration left the doors locked
A rebuild that changed URLs, a sitemap pointing at a retired hostname, branch and contact pages returning errors. The catalogue exists; search cannot reach it.
The sprint
One focused engagement. CAD $3,500, four weeks, 20 hours. Half at booking, half at completion.
- BaselineRecord where you stand today on the buying questions worth owning, in ChatGPT and in Google.
- Publish the answersTake the two or three decisions you are absent on and write them the way your counter staff would explain them, connected to the products they point to.
- Connect and submitLink the answers to the right catalogue categories, repair what is blocking access, and submit for indexing in Google and Bing.
- Re-measure and hand overRun the same baseline again so you can see what moved, and keep the method to repeat it.
Who this fits
Distributors, wholesalers and supply houses with a real catalogue and a trade customer base — typically several branches or one long-established location, selling to contractors, facilities teams or industrial buyers. Work is remote; we are based in Oakville, Ontario.
Implementation starts with the CAD $3,500 Search & AI Discovery Sprint. Requesting a review carries no commitment.
